
In the bustling city of Mumbai, amidst the chaotic yet vibrant economy, lies a tale of determination, passion, and success. Meet Deepali Shah Gandhi, re-elect President of Golf Industry Association (2023- till date) and a trailblazer in the field of Golf.
She hails from the esteemed Zaverchand Laxmichand family, as also the granddaughter of Late K K Shah, Hon. Governor of Tamil Nadu. Although she had the option to join one of the many family-owned enterprises, including Zaverchand Gaekwad Ltd, Zaverchand Marketing Ltd, Creative Engineering, Deepika Engineering, and Krishna Corp, which was involved in highly successful manufacturing of engineering products as well as trading in chemicals and textile auxiliaries, yet she decided to make her own mark in the world.
This young lady, who dedicated 6 years to the Golf Industry Association (GIA), where she served as President from 2018 to 2020, began her journey with an Economics major and eventually saw her excel in marketing, where she spearheaded remarkable growth, elevating the business from 75 lacs to 3 crores within a year through strategic initiatives in procurement and quality control. Never the one to rest on her laurels and with the love for her country in her heart, she realized India had a huge potential for the best Golf courses, yet great golf equipment was a challenge. Taking things head on, she trained at Golfsmith USA for fitment and assembly of clubs. Thereon, she went to Taiwan and UK for mould and shaft production, after which she pioneered the manufacturing of Golf Equipment in India even as she handled her responsibilities as a committee member of Western India Golf Association (WIGA) for more than a decade.
A pivotal moment came in 1991, when they felt the need to broaden their activities and so we added the distribution of brands Under her leadership, the company evolved into a major distributor of global golf brands namely Titleist, Footjoy, Club Car, Bagboy, Bushnell, and a recent acquisition J Lindeberg.
Here she quips in: “Both I and my husband Anand – who played the sport at University in the US – are very quality conscious, and we decided to work only with the best.”
Beyond her business endeavors, Deepali is deeply committed to social causes and a passion for philanthropy. She has played instrumental roles in the Vadodara Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (VSPCA)
Based in Mumbai, Deepali’s influence extends nationwide as she traverses the country, engaging with various clubs and communities. Her illustrious career and unwavering dedication to both business and humanitarian causes, underscore her status as a respected leader and changemaker.
